Academy of Experiential Midwifery Education

IMG_3500In her continued efforts to manifest a midwife for every mother and birth person, Sarita has opened a new program – the Academy of Experiential Midwifery Education – in Charlottesville, VA.  The program is based on hands-on learning and storytelling and geared towards the adult learner.  Using a combination of common sense explanations of physiology with innovative experiential techniques, the program will midwife the students through their journey towards becoming a Certified Professional Midwife through the Portfolio Evaluation Process.

The students will meet weekly with skills intensives every other month to supplement their experience.  The program is currently a two-year program with an optional third year being developed.

Sarita has been working with others on the staff of the Community School of Midwifery to develop a trademarked curriculum known as “The Connection Curriculum for Midwives”.  The first year of the Academy will be a pilot project for this new curriculum.
